The 18+ confirmation
A screen on your first visit asks whether you are 18 or older. Tapping the button makes your browser store one value in local storage. That value sits on your device, is not a cookie and is not sent to Captioned. Wiping your site data deletes it and the screen returns. A browser that blocks local storage shows the screen on each visit.
Server logs
Like any web server, the machine that hosts Captioned writes technical logs. Each entry notes your IP address, the timestamp, the requested page, the status code, the referring page and your browser name. Their purpose is to keep the site stable and to flag abusive traffic. Files are rotated on a set schedule and old ones are erased. They are not used to profile readers or follow them across pages.
What the site leaves out
Pages carry no analytics, no ad network and no tracking pixels. The site delivers its own fonts, images and scripts, so no outside tracker loads. The site has no comment form, sign-up or newsletter box, so the site has no reason to ask for your name or email. Captioned is for adults 18 and over and collects no personal details from visitors.
Affiliate links and Candy.ai
A link to Candy.ai opens in a new tab and wears a sponsored mark. Its address contains referral parameters, which let the Candy.ai affiliate program credit the visit. After you arrive on candy.ai, that service's own privacy policy governs, including to your account and payment details, which Captioned does not see.
